okay. i do realize that it is 10:04 pm on saturday night and potentially extremely lame that i am writing. but really, i can't wait til tomorrow. it is essential that i get this down tonight.
wow.
ABN and i decided to cancel our special dinner reservations (not cancel, postpone until next saturday) in favor of "stopping by" a party that a couple of guys from his office were hosting. i think we both knew it wasn't going to be the party of the century (really, only 52 EGERTON can host those) but we both get that in order to be make friends we are going to have to be social risk takers (i feel like i should get a cape).
the two of us were totally on the same page, reminiscent of a certain leap year party in 2004...it felt good to be there with ABN, to know that no matter how much we were forcing ourselves to go, to smile, to socialize, we had each other's back. and at the end of the night, we were leaving together.
and now for my analysis...i have no gaydar in sf. seriously, in the past i have considered it one of my gifts but here, i simply have no clue. the skinny pants, the scarves, the leather, the blazers. what the hell is going on in these here parts? and they all smoke cloves. i have so few words and at the same time my mind is racing. i now need to rethink my understanding of every male that i work with at pineapple nation because, well, now i'm just not so sure.
we stayed for an hour and then we left because while it was good to get meet a few of the people that ABN spends his days with (and the dog, most importantly) i had to leave because all the comments i was trying so hard to store and remember were threatening to break through my skin.
totally nice guys, no doubt.
can't wait to grab a beer.
still in search of my people.
still trying to figure out the ethos of the skinny jean.
