secret life of an american teenager is like a lifetime original movie - painful, but i can't stop watching. oh. my. god. if you haven't watched, don't. and if you have...can we discuss?
we're both exhausted and the story is the same - unpacking. the more we unpack the more it seems that we need to unpack. it's an endless pile of boxes i can't seem to crawl my way out of. we spent all day yesterday at the new place and at 4 o'clock decided it was time for a trip to ikea. 6 hours later (yep) we started loading the car. i have no idea what we were thinking (we weren't). we bought way more furniture then could possibly fit in the car and because the store was closed there was no friendly, yellow shirted ikea man to help us. instead we pushed and we pulled and we squished and we shifted and an hour and a half later the car was filled to the brim and i had to take a $50 taxi ride home. we slept at the new place because we figured it was safe to leave a packed car in the drive way overnight. it felt incredible to sleep in my own bed...i'm famous for my bed...in the best possible way. we're known for our sheets. come visit - please!
sleeping in my own bed made me realize how much i have missed certain things. i never considered myself a "stuff" person - i'm a people person. i need my friends and my family. and apparently the following "stuff":
- my sheets, my good sheets
- my green glass mug from israel...my tea tastes better in my green glass mug
- my orange teapot to make the tea that goes in my green glass mug
- my bed that is so high in the sky it hurts my knee to climb into
- my tracy porter dishes complete with peacocks of course
- my pomegranate ketubah with the signatures of CURLY, MRS. FCR and BZ and of course me and ABN
- my clock radio so that i can listen to NPR anytime and anywhere..it's so simple but it turns out the world has a limited number of radios
- my shoes...all my shoes
- my electric toothbrush - although since moving to SF two people have remarked about how white my teeth are...maybe we have different standards on the west coast
- my chuppah - even though i don't know what to do with it, or where to put it...it makes me feel better to have it.
