it's quite possible i just lost ABN to a sale at VALENCIA CYCLERY. we came down to the mission, to sit in RITUAL, drink coffee (well, me drink coffee - does that sound like cookie monster speak?) and get some work done (ABN - read papers, LBN - write some stuff). but then there was a big sign outside the bike store, which happens to be right across the street from where i am sitting, and now he's been gone for a little over half an hour and i'm sitting here, getting stuff done and he hasn't even started to get stuff done. it's fine - mean, i'm not in a rush to leave. but my computer was only partly charged when i left the house...i feel like i'm watching time tick away. and sometimes sitting still for too long makes me nutso. it's also possible i'm having one of those kind of days where i'm negative about everything - i hate those kinds of days (case in point). a couple of days ago i found a pair of jeans that i've been hanging onto since my sophomore year of college - and they fit. i think i should feel good about this - i mean i did in the minute that i discovered the jeans. but now i'm just uncomfortable...i mean the jeans are from like 2000 and so even though they fit, that doesn't make them less ugly. i'm mad at myself for wearing them - which makes me mad at myself for being mad at myself. sometimes i get into one of these endless cycles - a pity party, if you will. what a pity!
ABN is now back, and trying to take pictures of me blogging. i have no idea why. some days i would find this adorable. today - i might want to sock him. in a loving way, of course.
i feel like for the last 24 hours, post writing workshop, i've been on a different plain than the rest of the world. like i need to walk one direction which means i'm walking directly into oncoming traffic. i just sent CURLY an email and maybe that will make for a happier, or at least more settled me. we haven't connected or even attempted to connect since i was in boston and something about that just feels so wrong.
a couple of hours at the coffee shop and then a quick stop by REI. tomorrow we have a big day - muir woods with friends and then a meatball cook-off at a dive bar (meatballs + dive bar = does it get any better?). i'm offering JEWISH BARBIE'S grandma's HUNGARIAN MEATBALLS (which i have been known to carry across state lines). so i'm making those tonight, and cooking dinner. and then i picture some red wine and catching up on THE OFFICE and 30 ROCK...and a much happier LBN by the end of the night.
i don't want to get you all excited that i'm going to start to do this regularly, but, a couple of the bloggers that i read have been keeping short daily lists of the things that they are grateful for...after such a rant-filled post i feel like i should pause and reflect...
5 things that keep me from shoving a fork in my eye:
1. realizing that my hair is that much closer to being pony tail ready (not a REAL pony tail mind you, but a small turd that stays put, in a rubberband)
2. ABN for telling me that i look cute - in my wrinkled, ill-fitting, white, button down shirt
3. shooting the shit over gchat with no longer an 'ish'
4. my macbook, which i don't think i've talked enough about since acquiring it a couple of months ago...that's how great it is...its made me forget all my past computers as if this was the only option...ever
