Shabbat Sh-We Live in a Really Rad CIty

we spent today doing touristy things with the SUPERDAWGS, who are in town for a friend's wedding (i love that SF seems to be a place that many people we love find themselves visiting).  it was so fun.  so fun to have conversations, real conversations with people other than ABN (honey, you're great...but...most days you're the only person i talk to).  so fun to walk around neighborhoods and not be in charge of the map.  so fun to see the sea lions, to buy  sourdough bread at the farmer's market, to get a piece of free chocolate from ghiradelli chocolate after climbing a big hill.  so fun to be with friends...*deep sigh*....i know, it's going to be okay.  the weather could not have been more beautiful and as much as my dad keeps reminding me that it's not going to last i keep reminding myself that this "adventure" that we are having means that we're missing a summer of hot, sticky, boston, which i have to say, is not  a bad thing.  and while my feet are red and swollen and blistered, being surrounded by people that i love (ie a distraction) while i walked made me feel much better (and i have made it my mission to go to the mall tomorrow and not return until i have comfy shoes!).

as great as today was (and it was...i'm just going to keep thinking about it) last night i had a mini breakdown/major cry-fest (probably triggered by my feet).  it was mostly focused on the fact that i miss my stuff specifically my stuffed-torah, LEFTY.  i packed in a hurry and while i apparently brought a large number of open-toed, uncomfortable shoes, i didn't bring so many  essentials...essentials that are essential to no one but me, LEFTY.  and my accessories (i like accessories).  and my bed.  change is rough.

a funny story before i go...i got an email earlier this week from a friend who is driving across the country, from boston to sf (!) and had stopped in sioux falls south dakota for a middle-of-nowhere burger.  turns out, they had ended up at BOB'S BURGER by way of ROADFOOD.  BOB himself had remembered that another couple had been in a few weeks before making the exact same trip and when my friend read the guest book, guess who she found?  a certain red head and her ABN!  who knew sioux falls was such a happening place?
